Home Theater Seating Platforms
For medium-sized home theaters, it is sometimes necessary to build a seating platform or a riser. These platform allow your second, third, and fourth rows to maintain a line-of-sight with the screen.
There are some points to consider when building platforms for your home theater seating:
1. Measure everything first. Make sure you take note that your platform not only has enough room for your home theater seating, it should also have enough leg room for the user and enough back room for recliners.
2. Consider the number of rows you intend for your home theater. Platforms need to be at least six inches higher than the one before them. This removes any visual interference from the user’s line of sight with the television.
3. Consider the placement of the platform before you construct.
4. Think of all the other cool things you can do with the platform and, if budget allows, do it. Platforms can also be a great place to put in bass shakers and additional speakers.
These days, there are ready-made platforms you can buy from any hardware store and can be easily installed in your home theater. This makes our job a lot easier and we can just concentrate on gearing up the room. On the other hand, you would need to pre-measure your home theater before you buy anything. You also need to consider the color these pre-built platforms come in. Would a black carpeted pre-built riser blend in well with your home theater?
